It uses family systems and object relations theory to support the research.  The project does not provide a comprehensive premarital counseling program but does present a model developed within an Episcopalian context.  The practical research is done by questionnaire-based interviews with twelve couples who experience the genogram as the primary framework for their four to six session premarital programs. Methodology included the use of self report statements and tests (Marital Communication and Support Systems Inventories).
