If a parish is to grow, the total membership should be made aware of this need; and the laity should be given a chance to address themselves to this task.  In developing the project, much information came from interviews, personal experience and readings and observations in black parishes. A woman enters religious life with an identity, images and styles of communicating closeness or distance that were learned and internalized within the family of origin. These become conscious or unconsious means of identifying herself and her role as a religious and of relating intimately with others in a communal setting.
