Processes using small groups and congregational meetings were used to move the church through mission clarification, congregational assessment and goal setting.  A study was done of the compatibility of these methods with the fundamentalist Baptist theology of the church. A bi-monthly, six-hour spiritual enrichment cluster assisted pastors at their own level of spirituality.  Clusters included assignments and readings, discussion of two disciplines, and sharing progress in implementing the disciplines. Assessment instruments gave pastors a before and after evaluation of their individual progress.  Pastors registered not only an increased passion for God, but also personal growth in the fruit of the Spirit.  Daily times spent in prayer and reflection increased appreciably. Researching the history, polity, and membership statistics of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, the observation is made that certain ecclesiastical procedures hinder, rather than facilitate, each congregation's fulfillment of this mission. Theological critique establishes the case for taking a new approach in order to effectively make disciples of all nations.  A church growth consultation is conducted in a local Christian Reformed congregation, using, in small groups, materials based on the planning cycle.  Although modest results are realized, it is observed that even the best plans, methods, and strategies depend upon prayer and the blessing of God. Insights for effective outreach are gleaned from the field of marketing, in addition to building on theological foundations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716291648421888,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:00:04.163Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Burnette P Shilling","hits":1,"label":"Burnette P Shilling"},{"value":"David A Janke","hits":1,"label":"David A Janke"},{"value":"Kevin T Bauder","hits":1,"label":"Kevin T Bauder"},{"value":"Stephen P Austvold","hits":1,"label":"Stephen P Austvold"},{"value":"Walter E Beekman","hits":1,"label":"Walter E Beekman"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Christian Reformed Church","hits":1,"label":"Christian Reformed Church"},{"value":"Christian life","hits":1,"label":"Christian life"},{"value":"Church growth","hits":1,"label":"Church growth"},{"value":"Church renewal--Baptists","hits":1,"label":"Church renewal--Baptists"},{"value":"Clergy--Religious life","hits":1,"label":"Clergy--Religious life"},{"value":"Conflict management","hits":1,"label":"Conflict management"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":5,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University","hits":5,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":5,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1991","hits":3,"label":"1991"},{"value":"1983","hits":1,"label":"1983"},{"value":"1989","hits":1,"label":"1989"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School","hits":5,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School","hits":5,"label":"Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":5,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":5,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
