It was also theorized that local pastors required a vetting system for the establishment of a referral network. Brief Therapy models, Christian coaching techniques, and conflict resolution methodologies were researched, and a handbook was created. During the first phase of this project, research was conducted to provide content for a workshop to train selected deacons in basic marriage counseling skills and healthy relationships. The second phase included development of the workshop training curriculum and enlistment of selected deacons. The third phase of this project was the implementation phase where the project director presented the curriculum during seven training sessions. Teaching methodologies included lecture, group discussions, participant interaction, and visual illustrations.
