The author claims that Millennials (born between 1982-2000) are the most postmodern generation to date. The second body of literature deals exclusively with postmodernity and its relationship specifically with white-upper-middle-class youth ministry in the United States. The authors describes how the conference understands spirituality and how it practices spiritual formation. The case study uses the responses from interviews for the description. The interviews are with persons active in the life of the conference. The author uses the World Council of Churches' ten essential marks of Christian spirituality and the seven factors essential for spiritual formation to theologically critique the interviews."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721147793670144,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:17:15.344Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:15:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1db57c11-700c-44a1-b75c-ebf72890a54a","accessControl_ssim":["dccbd603-be00-4cd5-8500-c244716d93c8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Facing suffering with the help of fiction"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:45:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:00:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["797f6a15-9139-4eeb-9bc8-c8b802a4f50f"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b0f97c0-d3db-47a6-9dd2-3e3c0b137f06"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["R Kendall Soulen"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Using the pro-active (qualitative) research method, the author examined works of modern fiction, developed a biblical/theological foundation, and led the group in six sessions based on films, short stories, and a novel. The author found that modern fiction helped participants deal with suffering through: insights gained, identification, experiences/expressions of compassion, growth in faith/theological understanding, exposure to other cultures/experiences, participating in a supportive community, and emotional healing and growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717249171324928,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:15:17.328Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:37:48Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:08:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e72743ee-13cd-478c-a328-2556d9431b9d","accessControl_ssim":["3eae5b38-4d99-4f4e-b0c3-8816eaf6d4cc"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ministry with the homeless in Staunton, Virginia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:37:47Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:44:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["474b7c85-ecdb-4b3e-be52-1cda213a9621"],"hasLease_ssim":["73be9992-5f45-4b63-a730-8b5b963496db"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["R Kendall Soulen"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"location_tesim":["Virginia--Staunton"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
