Ten participants were trained through a five-session workshop that culminated with a weekend retreat. The workshop was entitled, 'Spiritual Formation through Solitude with God.' The workshop was based around the five areas of solitude: stillness, silence, sin, service, and speak. The project director researched various small group models and methods of strategic spiritual formation for a standard for curriculum development. The director identified and enlisted a strategy team at Southside Baptist Church. He used six sessions to equip the strategy team to develop a strategy. The strategy team developed a spiritual formation strategy using small groups. Many current discipleship methods produce powerless Christians giving cognitive assent to biblical principles while living in discord with their stated beliefs.  The author attempted to establish personal relationships as the primary method of assimilating and discipling new converts at First Baptist Church.
