The thesis was field-tested by two groups in two separate churches.  Each group followed the theological basis and the guidelines that were recommended for building and implementing a vision that was to lead to a new ministry within each church. A new ministry was born within each church.  The process and the experience of the process brought forth a positive and renewing effect upon the participants and spread beyond them. The pastors were organized (by region) into groups of four to six men.  In each of five consecutive months, they read an assigned book (a different book each month) and then met to discuss it.  Their reading and discussion provided continuing education.  Their being together provided an opportunity for fellowship.  The project report outlines the minister's continuing education and fellowship needs as suggested from Scripture and ministry-related materials.  The format of the project is then explored and analyzed. At any time every church has an intangible aura. Primary components including heritage, past leadership, credibility in the community, pattern of mission, degree of resistance to change, plus other factors, need adjustment to them. Secondary components, alterable, also were reflected in forty-five statements designed, analyzing synergistic 'spirit'. Three churches' leaders responded to the statements on the Likert scale. Consensus was achieved by Delphi technique.  Goals for three months' improvement were set. The research was done via questionnaires and a personal visit to each church by the author.  It revealed that there were growing Baptist churches in all four states.  Fifteen characteristics were readily acknowledged as significant in these churches and their growth.
