I begin with an exploration of community and church as described by sociologists and ecclesiologists. Members of St. Andrew formed the 'Let's Connect! Team' and shared this learning and their experience of community. This team then invited our congregation to enter into a fuller understanding and experience of Christian community. The project addressed an increasing trend of pastors leaving ministry who do not have the support nor varied skills to serve congregations. The community of practice model drew upon research that enduring learning takes places in association with others. This project involves a series of sermons, workshops, and presentations with the goal of creating a health-minded culture in a congregation by using holistic health initiatives. The main goals are 1) strategy creation, 2) team development, 3) online capacity and content assessment, 4) test the social media effectiveness both internally and externally outreach, and finally 6) raise the congregation's visibility and use of social media and technology. The project concludes that in light of the shifting technological and cultural landscape the church can benefit from emerging technology.
