The equipping program model included a training seminar that equipped a select group of members in responsible evangelism and subsequent discipling relationships for the purpose of spiritual maturation. The project included the creation of a curriculum that functioned as a training tool to equip members in disciple-making. The seminar consisted of six sessions conducted over three days within a retreat setting. The project director implemented the project with selected adult leaders in the Sunday school at Mount Zion Baptist Church who desired to increase their understanding and skills in using the four components of emotional intelligence. Before the six-session workshop, participants completed the Emotional Intelligence Appraisal [registered symbol] as a pretest and post-test. Workshop sessions explored the present need for emotional intelligence in ministry; self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management as they relate to ministry. In a workshop setting participants explored four concepts of strategic planning: 1) shaping direction, 2) inspiring commitment 3) developing supportive relationships, and 4) facilitating change. These concepts were contextualized in a peer-learning cluster and further customized in an individual coaching experience.
