The report presents as well a foundation from which to approach spiritual gifts. Fundamentally, the report expresses a broader definition of spiritual gifts so as to include all of God's gifts. These gifts are expressed in terms of creation, humanity, salvation, and history. In order to achieve the above, the report also includes a section that details a particular understanding of the gifts given in history. Based on the concepts that ministry is for reconciliation, and listening is a vital ministry, the project sought to train lay church members in the art of creative listening. These trained listeners then called on other church members--especially the disaffected--in an attempt to achieve reconciliation. Two methods were used to evaluate the project: 1) statistical reports of the calls, which indicated that only a small percentage of disaffected members were reconciled to the church, and 2) personal interviews of the callers, which indicated that the program had merit apart from its success or lack of it in recovering inactive church members."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717049199493120,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:12:06.620Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:18:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:37:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"87f1d483-7759-4c28-8b77-d1d539aa8f40","accessControl_ssim":["d91a452b-f4d6-4496-9310-c878a3d55ed1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["New dimensions in discipleship: a case for theology of hope"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:18:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:08:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["087ab16c-7462-4cbf-b570-1da2b143cc90"],"hasLease_ssim":["952b789b-3e09-43b4-8d46-4a84c978ca1e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stuart McLean","C William Bryan"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Leslie C Brown"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education","Planning","Hope","Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)","Christian life","Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis is a congregational self assessment and planning program designed for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma. It is a design which facilitates planning from the strengths of the church, utilizing the church's theology, traditions, and hopes for the future. The report consists of a summary of the development of the project, its design, its hermeneutics, and the theology implicit in the program, particularly the theology of hope by Juergen Moltmann. The hypothesis was that through formation of a group named Order of Mission, its members would develop toward Christian maturity, and the congregation would assume a conscious stance of world involvement. The group was action-oriented, but also fulfilled functions of reflection, fellowship, and celebration. The model was AAAR: awareness, analysis, action, and reflection. The hypothesis was partially proven. Group members experienced deepened concern for mission, but the congregation did not show strong evidence of following this direction.
