The project was designed to teach parents some basic principles of Christian nurture, from a Wesleyan, theological perspective, informed by developmental theory. The child-rearing motifs of John Wesley were taught within the structural-developmental framework of James W Fowler's faith development theory, to inform parents of some of the theological and psychological factors necessary for a more informed nurture of Christian faith in their children. The project was carried out through a series of seminars conducted at the First Church of the Nazarene in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The objectives of this project are threefold: 1) It is designed to create a biblically based hermeneutic that utilizes the guidelines of scripture, tradition, experience, and reason; 2) The Bethel Series and the Trinity Bible Studies are evaluated in the light of this hermeneutic.  The evaluation of these series involved the compiling and comparing of questionnaires administered to a class using The Bethel Series and one using the Trinity Bible Series.
