To determine the use and effectiveness of this program in local congregations, a questionnaire was designed to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Adventure program. This questionnaire was sent to the 117 Adventure leaders and to 300 local congregations that have participated in the Adventure training. The author researched ways in which ministers experience the tension between primary tasks of ordained ministry, of which relationships with the poor are a part, and the more tangible and measurable secondary and tertiary marks of ministry. The method of study for this project was largely ethnographic, consisting of field interviews with fifteen elders.
