The project distinctives are its unwavering committment to the self-directed learning ability of an adult believer and to the local church as the pillar and bulwark of the truth. It extensively uses learning contracts in the learning process. However, it does not imply learning in isolation. Much mutuality is found among a group of self-directed learners in a learning cell group. These churches, though apparently growing numerically, are spiritually stagnant and encountering crises, particularly with their young educated members.  Through interviews with the executive leaders of four of the largest of these churches in Nigeria, and a questionnaire survey of about ten large denominations, this writer has been able to document the problems facing their ministerial training. The result of the research has served as a basis for proposing certain criteria necessary to revamp their ministerial training.
