Chapter one explains 'The Training Network' (T-NET) and its organizing principles. The paper tells the four-year story at Calvary Baptist. Chapter two examines the theological, biblical, and sociological foundations for a disciplemaking church. It proposes a twenty-four month plan for an intentional, sequential strategy at Calvary Baptist. Chapter three discusses the six seminars our T-NET team attended at Trinity International University. The appendices include some of the substantial homework completed. The method of research entailed demographic analyses, use of questionnaires, interviews, and analyses of historic documents. Two competing cultures are identified in this study. The monolithic culture is composed of historic residents, while the pluralistic culture pertains to those new in the community. Two outreach services have been developed to penetrate these cultures. This project seeks to address and answer the question of how local churches survive and thrive in the shadow of the mega-churches. The focus of this project is to define the options those churches have in metropolitan areas. Options are limited to the strategies suggested by Lyle Schaller in his book, 21 Bridges to the 21st Century.
