Circumstances forced a reconsideration of a preconceived religious and academic orientation concerning demonic activity amongst Christians.  The work suggests that it is wrong to think that the presence of the Holy Spirit excludes the presence of demons. Scriptural examples of demonization are presented.  The paper describes the character and attributes of Satan and how he can affect a believer. The manual is considered the first draft of the manual to be re-written with an African co-author. The first section of the project is the theological and anthropological foundations underlying the manual.  It contains the worldviews of the Old and New Testaments, Bantu and Tonga along with the 'spirit sicknesses' of the Tonga, a theology of spiritual warfare and contextualization.
