This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations. The Church is seen as a process and a community in which persons interact and grow.  These elements are stressed above the formal, institutional structure.
