Members of the Christian Church were invited to participate in a two-day retreat to consider how the Christian understanding of compassion can impact our use of money.  The report discusses the importance of money in contemporary life, the teachings of Jesus regarding money, and the biblical and psychological impact of compassion. The theological implications of marriage as covenant are explored in order to give a solid rationale for expanding and intensifying the pastor's work with engaged couples. The report outlines how the 'Myers-Briggs Personality Type Inventory' has been helpful in promoting understanding between couples and how this basic tool can be incorporated into the process of pre-marital counseling. This field project sought to rectify this situation within a very limited population by studying the reality of oppression from a black theological perspective with the congregation served by the author. Introduction of black theology to a black congregation helped determine the impact of these concepts on black Christians and develop information that could be used to structure future lectures on black theology for black congregations.
