The selected members who participated in the training were given the first opportunity over other associational church members. Preparations were made to solicit volunteers from the North Central Baptist Association (NCBA) if I could not reach Springhill’s membership recruiting goal. This preparation was unnecessary as Springhill took an active interest in the project.\r\n\r\nI researched children’s death-related data from local and international agencies that supported this project. The statistical data supported grief training at the layperson level. I studied both biblical and non-biblical death philosophies to gauge what people believed concerning the topic. Based on my research and learning, I wrote a grief recovery care curriculum that encompassed sermons, teaching lessons, and other pedagogical tools to equip selected members in grief recovery care.
