Deacons need to be trained and equipped for ministry through a diaconate that is seen as the worshipping and serving core of the church. The koinonia of the diaconate through their prayer life, study, and learning together; and their commitment to the ministry of Jesus Christ in the church and through their own lives will begin a process of renewal for the church. They will, in effect, become salt, light, and leaven for the church.
