The major research hypothesis underscoring the project was that establishing a local church was dependent upon circumstantial and controllable variables.  Circumstantial variables were any factor outside the influence or control of the church planter.  Controllable variables were any factor within the influence or control of the church planter.  These two key concepts (i.e. circumstantial and controllable variables) were the foundation stones upon which the research project collected, recorded, analyzed, concluded, and drew practical points of ministry application. Furthermore, a comprehensive review of church planting literature identified a framework for analyzing circumstantial and controllable variables, and a survey of the church members identified, clarified, and quantified additional information relevant to a case study approach.
