A ministry model is developed based on the author's experience of an unusually high number of divorces in a church where he served; an analysis of biblical teaching on marriage, divorce, and remarriage; interviews with divorced Christians active in local churches; interviews with pastors and parachurch workers who have experience counseling the divorced; and research in the field. The development of the model also drew from an analysis of a local parachurch divorce recovery ministry and from research on the social and psychological impact of divorce on the church. Several misconceptions are revealed about the divorce experience, social consequences, and ministry to the divorced.
