The biblical grounding considers Paul's speech at the Areopagus (Acts 17:16-34). Niebuhr's Christ and culture is the basis for cultural context. The church's history, Paul's ministry, and technological advancements such as language, architecture and cultural practices helped enable proclamation of the Gospel. Literature should be considered as a resource for preaching and observations are made about literature's use in preaching within two congregational settings -- a structured group versus casual interaction.
