From a literary review of theodicy, the book of Job and crisis management, the author develops numerous hypotheses regarding ministry to critically ill parishioners.  He then surveys and interviews critically ill persons who are both members of selected 'mainline' churches and residents of the Lower Yakima Valley of Washington state.
