In a new paradigm, listening to children and their experiences of the presence of God is central.  Research included reading based on stage theory, and material that critiques it, proposing other models for spiritual formation; interviews with children in Christian education classes; observation of Montessori classrooms; and incorporating some new models into parish ministry.
