This project will be an equipping program model.  The project director will conduct research and develop materials to be used to train a group of deacons and wives for the purpose of assisting pastoral staff in aftercare ministry.  The equipping process will include: 1) providing a biblical rationale for utilizing deacons in aftercare ministry; 2) providing information discovered as a result of research regarding grief associated with death; 3) training the group to assist pastoral staff in aftercare ministry; and 4) encouraging sensitivity to and participation in aftercare ministry.
