This paper documents a historical process toward partnership at work within Presbyterian leadership and an impasse which now blocks its forward movement.  It develops a practical theology for ecclesial leadership by utilizing Daniel Day Wiliams' interpretation of the imago dei as the will to belong and Edwin H.
