After covering the foundations of the development and organization of cognitive, emotional and linguistic meaning systems for the individual, the author reinterprets psychodynamic concepts as metaphors which can be used in therapy to help the client describe his or her internal mechanisms and process.  The use of metaphors to elicit change in meaning systems is portrayed, particularly in terms of developing a sense of self-love in the client.
