The study demonstrates the critical issues for this population in the developmental period of young adulthood and implications for ministry with them.  The four issues and concerns that arise from the research are: the meaning of success, maintaining the balance of career and family, valuing connection in relationships and applying faith to business ethics. After presenting the historical development of the Order and defining the charism of its founder, the thesis explores the faith development and spirituality of young adult males who comprise college councils. Contemporary ecclesiastical documents, particularly Vatican II's 'Decree on the laity,' are employed to provide a theological background and understanding of laity, their mission and need for empowerment. ERFCA is Experience, Reflection, Faith/Tradition, Choice and Action.  A group of four to six volunteers met together once every two weeks over ten months with a facilitator.  Each participant covenanted with other group members and developed personal learning goals related to ministry currently engaged in.  A theological and an educational base is described. They presented and discussed case studies, thereby providing numerous examples for understanding the centrality of relationship in women's ministry.  The author's theoretical perspective includes a relational understanding about human growth and ministry.  Participants expressed a dilemma of choice between themselves and their communities of ministry. Mutual ministry offers a resolution, and includes becoming empowered and empowering others together. The study examines the economic, historical, sociological, canonical and ecclesiological factors that combined to allow the creation, as well as the death, of an institution that validated the life, dignity and faith of one immigrant group in a new and often hostile environment.  A new understanding of 'parish,' coming out of Vatican II, has been institutionalized by the new Code of Canon Law. The author explores the empowering benefits of this in chapter four.  In chapter five, a step-by-step guide to instituting and using an innovative model of theological reflection in the local church is expounded. Two different models were tested: first, a model based on the author's understanding of how Jesus developed leaders; second, a model from the Industrial Areas Foundation.  On the surface the two models have similarities; however, there are points of difference in terms of method, theology, ecclesiology, and ethical principle.
