If a cultural gap is part of the problem, measures can be taken to help pastors develop greater cultural sensitivity. Surveys investigated differences between perceptions of pastors and members in an Appalachian conference of Seventh-Day Adventists.  Percentages, t-tests for independent means, and correlation coefficients examined the relationship between perceptions regarding Appalachian culture of church members and pastors at the .05 significance level.  All, but one, of the cultural clusters indicates cultural gaps. The historical and sociological background of the Caribbean immigrant family was researched, and a model for addressing their needs was designed in the form of a nine-session seminar series focusing on the areas identified above.
