A researcher-designed survey was mailed to a simple random sample of revival participants, asking about nine aspects of their spiritual lives within the first 12 months of the revival and 25 years later.  Survey results showed that even 25 years later the Asbury Revival of 1970 continued to impact the lives of the Asbury College graduates who participated in the revival. This study describes how the researcher presented Merton's understanding about the Cross to a group of adults who were struggling with issues related to their journey through mid-life.  Two procedures were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention: a qualitative approach involved the use of free-story interviews, anecdotes, and comments by the participants; and, a quantitative approach was utilized which involved the Spiritual Well-Being Scale. The spiritual well-being inventory did not indicate any statistically significant changes for the group in any of its measures of religion, existential or spiritual well-being.  However, the data gathered by more qualitative approaches indicated that this intervention can have an impact upon the lives of adult lay people. The prayer styles reflected the functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  In 73 percent of the cases, participants found a prayer style they preferred.  Levels of comfort, a sense of God's presence, and the style's similarity to prayer patterns utilized prior to the study were the strongest determinants of preference.  The author concludes that teaching people a variety of prayer styles is beneficial to spiritual growth. The study evaluated ministry to children, reviewed Free Methodist theology of the Lord's Supper, examined the practices of other denominations with regard to children and Communion, and analyzed how children learn.  A curriculum, combining storytelling, the use of objects, wondering questions, play, drama, and music, was developed and tested in two Free Methodist churches. Eight youth--five males, three females--and four adults participated in a five-day trip.  The spiritual well-being scale was given as a pre-test and four- and twelve-week post-test.  Each teen kept a journal.  Females grew more than males.  Teens without a parent involved grew more than those with a parent participating.  The Religious Well-Being means rose each testing.  The Existential Well-Being means rose at four weeks, then fell below pre-test mean at twelve weeks. Sermons in greatly growing churches were significantly stronger in relevance/practicality, vision, a basis in God's Word, and focus of thought compared with sermons in moderately growing churches. Churches and para-church organizations need to be more aware of the opportunities to expand this support base afforded by the ethnic and cultural changes taking place. This study has potential value and significance for churches and para-church organizations in that the Canadian Bible Society (CBS) could serve as a model for restructuring organizations. A survey from Converts, Dropouts, Returnees: a Study of Religious Change Among Catholics by Dr Dean Hoge (1981) identifying intermarried Protestants as the greatest source of new Catholics was adapted to measure the opposite flow of intermarried Catholics into Trinity.
