Throughout the Scriptures and the history of the Christian church, God has revealed his heart for rural people and places. The purpose of this praxis was to encourage and equip pastors for effective rural ministry through biblical, historical, and practical reflection. A group of eight rural pastors participated in a series of four one-hour workshops and a one-hour discussion session. The director was able to assess the value of the praxis through questionnaires and a discussion forum. The project director developed and delivered a seminar on mentoring and a retreat on coaching for the purpose of introducing participants to a sixty-day biblical peer mentoring relationship. The project was evaluated by participants' performances on a cumulative examination, covenant and goal statements, and individual interviews following the sixty-day period. Chaplains minister to the first responders and support their work as an expression of commitment to and worship of God.
