Many of the congregrants were not motivated to change behavior. The project director contends that lives will be changed when the hearers understand what biblical preaching is, what to look for in the text, and when they adopt the attitude and action of the text. This project identifies ways to motivate the hearer to adopt the action and attitude of the text utilizing standard research practices. This research showed that when people learn how to hear a sermon, they comprehend it differently.  The project testing tools were developed as quantitative measures of a control group's ability to hear and understand a sermon.  After measurement data were collected, they were used to determine project effectiveness.  After tools were developed, measurement models were used to test group learning in an actual setting.
