The methodology is feminist and therefore attempts to break free from traditional understandings of research. The focus of the research is on the women's experience of ministry and supervision and their understanding of spirituality and their vision of ministry with women.  The insights from this study include the effect of patriarchal structures on women, the lack of skills of critical analysis to identify patriarchal reality, the minimal support and nurture for feminists' spirituality, and the limited provision of opportunity to discuss theology from a feminist perspective. Traditional evangelical women exemplify how patriarchal paradigms prevent women from finding their voices.  Pat Schneider's creative writing program was used in a spiritual growth workshop.  The women participants described the difficulties of having a voice amidst both their church's patriarchal authority and their internal struggles with their role as women.  As the workshop concluded the women reported experiencing some personal growth.
