The new 'United Methodist Hymnal: Book of United Methodist Worship' contains services or word and table that allow for the celebrant to create varieties in the prayer.  This project contains 26 eucharistic prayers based on the Common Lectionary rather than the season.  The project also examines the history of the prayer, Wesley's approach to the sacrament, and how the 1988 United Methodist liturgy developed. Gilligan's research pointed out that normative theories of development matured through their relationships.  This project thesis develops a perspective on relationship drawn from theories in the fields of psychology, theology, and faith development.  Research data consisted of twelve interviews with women who were asked to describe themselves, their relationships, and their faith. Centering on the Fourth Gospel, the study integrates two theological dimensions of Advent, judgement and redemption.  The fundamental theological program is that in the moment of encounter with Christ, by one's choice judgement is exercised upon oneself and the possibility of redemption either claimed or rejected.  Lesson plans, background material on the Fourth Gospel, and study guides are included, as well as liturgies and sermons for Advent. The theological context for developing the model included biblical realism, a praxis liberation, and a revised correlational method, particularly in the writings of D S Browning and T H Groome.  The model of pastoral guidance was unlike brief counseling or crisis intervention.  This three to four session model focused on spiritual discernment concerning a particular issue, using guided meditation, homework, and longer breaks between sessions.
