Deconstructing dysfunctional aspects of these narratives creates emotional and psychological space for reconstruction of more healthy narratives and patterns of life, thus creating experiences of hope and possibility for the future. Incorporating some components of wilderness therapy into a pastoral care setting should help to offer a more integrated and wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling.  The project describes a feminist understanding of sin, the sin of hiding or self-negation, and offers some suggestions about how wilderness adventure therapy might be incorporated into a more wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling. It is a structured way of reaching out to all the members of the congregation to let them know that the church cares about them.  Built into the program is direct, personal contact with nuclear, modal, marginal, and dormant members. Along with one-to-one contact there are new fellowship opportunities designed to low for closer relationships to develop within small groups. Because many ministries to this population are patronizing in nature, leave out the families, and are not intentional in training and implementation, the need was felt to develop a plan which would be more comprehensive and intentional. The group was conducted through the Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center of Nacogdoches, Texas, for a period of seven weeks.  Twelve people chose to participate in the group led by the writer.  Presentations were also made by a pastoral counselor and clinical psychologist. Each session included an opportunity for group members to share their problems with one another.
