This project is an attempt for the church to utilize its theology of hope, its use of mystery and ritual and its sense of identity and other resources to prevent teenage depression and despair. The program consisted of eight two-hour sessions, meeting one evening each week.  The author believed that by exposing women to women in the Scriptures through the lens of the work of women scholars, the women's self-esteem would be enhanced. The Hudson Index of Self-Esteem was the measure of the women's esteem.  A baseline test was given followed by the test taken at the end of each session. In a sermon series, congregants heard about five church models: covenant communion, sacrament, herald, servant, and community of disciples.
