Using the Whiteheads' model and method of doing practical theology, this study has moved from practice, to theory, to practice. A biblical interpretation of suffering, and a pastoral approach to coping with the problem, are suggested. A rationale reflecting a habitus of practical theology develops.  Pastoral strategies arise from this rationale. Using Groome's method of practical theology, 'Shared Christian Praxis,' the author conducted a case study in a Chicago parish, meeting with adults at a separate location while their children took part in the catechesis.
