Part one analyzes the influence of the rite's theological anthropology and asceticism in ministering to the sick. Part two describes the five-session, in-service learning workshop. It articulated the characteristics of contemporary presidency at eucharist. The author designed, implemented and evaluated a five-day workshop on the topic for Roman Catholic priests.  The workshop included lectures, audio-visual critique and small group interaction among the participants.  The project demonstrated the need for continuing liturgical formation among Roman Catholic clergy.  It concluded that the presidency of the eucharist is in need of a new paradigm, namely, leadership in ecclesial
