It explores a number of key women in the New Testament, the developmental theories of Carol Gilligan, and ten sermons by Anglican/Episcopalian women priests.  The thesis then examines homiletics curricula at four Anglican colleges in Canada. This thesis/project is a descriptive study of the premarital counseling practices of a sample of 20 pastors in the Presbytery of Genesee Valley, New York, who were interviewed to ascertain their practices concerning inclusion of discussion of five areas of marital satisfaction which appear to be important for the content of premarital counseling: background information, communications, money, religion, and sexuality.  There is a wide divergence in the premarital counseling practices of pastors.  Some do an excellent job, but the majority of the sample appear to be struggling or frustrated in their practice of premarital counseling. Presented to a small group of no more than seven couples over six sessions, the format combines theory presentation, discussion, home assignments and skill development.  Couples who took the course indicated improvement in their relationship-development skills and a clarification of values and goals for their relationship.  The participants felt that they could deal with conflict more openly and creatively than before and had learned some important communication skills.
