The Plan on Church Union Task Force was created to maintain the essence of Methodism in the proposed union. This reasearch evaluates the endeavors of the Task Force and its actions in the proposed plan of union from the perspective of various districts of the AME Zion Church. Background research was conducted on previous Methodist unions to determine what characteristics produced sustained unions. The occurence of 'Spencer churches' like the African Union Methodist Protestant (AUMP) and Union American Methodist Episcopal churches (UAME) give descriptive and comparative insight into the nature of black church union and church merger strategy. African Methodist Episcopal Church proposals for church union from 1864-1922 appear in Appendix J. The procedure of the study is to use formative evaluative research to determine how the document 'A Plan of Church Union' can be adjusted to ensure its adoption by the General Conference. It also attempts to answer the question 'how can procedures and processes be improved in order to achieve stated objectives?' The goal of the study determine the opinion of the districts of the AME Zion General Conference's of 'A Plan of Church Union' in order to inform the Task Force's course of action in the future. The study concludes that the plan could fail unless the General Conference makes more of an effort to inform the churches' membership about the Plan."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721947310850048,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:29:57.823Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:43:55Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:46:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"34286acb-11e4-4ddf-8e40-04a65dd14561","accessControl_ssim":["e6884457-421b-4c88-bc9d-08b9c991852e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The practice of spiritual disciplines among Kentucky Baptist pastors who remain spiritually vital"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:43:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:38:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3be6c9e5-a335-4136-8b1c-85d5310f37a3"],"hasLease_ssim":["b17944bb-965d-4acb-aa16-6f63e0bc9d8d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard J Higgins"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Virgle R Grant"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions of Columbia International University"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Religious life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The dissertation was concerned with the spiritual disciplines that spiritually vital pastors use to remain vital. The methodology used in the research was the case study method. The project focused on twelve interviews of pastors from Southern Baptist churches in the state of Kentucky. The interview schedule was designed around nine research questions. The conclusions reached are as follows. All twelve pastors stressed the importance, or the essence of the spiritual disciplines to their ministry. All twelve pastors identified the importance of the spiritual disciplines but struggled with various obstacles in practicing the disciplines. Eleven of the twelve stated that their 'devotional reading' of the Bible was separate from sermon preparation. Eight of the twelve pastors became practitioners of spiritual disciplines due to mentors early in their spiritual journey."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719238026395648,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:46:54.048Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:26:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:00:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a61ed650-68a5-4c28-9346-060189c2af5d","accessControl_ssim":["a11866ae-0194-45e2-9a67-f3a202feae12"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Training Russian lay pastors: important issues as identified by Russian church planters"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:26:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:57:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0bee9b3f-6ff4-48a7-985c-fb227c74b9c4"],"hasLease_ssim":["401e3f6c-07b7-47ec-99be-945c5fb53067"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"advisor_tesim":["William H Jones"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"location_tesim":["Russia"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lawrence R Sallee"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"subject_tesim":["Church history","Evangelistic work","Church work","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["'Lay pastors' lead many Russian churches, but few of them have access to formal theological education, which often consists of Western forms and content.
