This project focuses on the implementation of missional principles in a particular congregation to shift its narrative of decline to a narrative of revitalization. The report explores Second Presbyterian Church's historical identity leading to its period of decline, identifies missional principles, and then traces the narrative of the implementation of those principles within the congregation. Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder in the experience of disasters, especially as they relate to loss of place, are studied. Identification with place and the loss of place in the Katrina disaster are examined, specifically at Grace Episcopal Church and the Mid-City neighborhood.
