Answering that question requires first clarifying what is meant by transformation, a term often used loosely in the current discussion of organizational change. This study proposes a specific understanding of missional transformation and examines one small urban congregation's four-year journey to become a missional community. The Gospel and our Culture Network's eight 'patterns of missional faithfulness' are the benchmarks used to evaluate the change that has taken place at North Presbyterian Church. This project focuses on the case study of a particular client and upon the indications for a beneficial treatment modality. The process of her complicated grief is explored from the perspective of overlying post-traumatic stress. A treatment modality developed by Therese A. Quantitative questionnaires, using R. Leon Carroll, Jr.'s, 'habits and virtues' of generative teaching congregations and Lois J. Zachary's 'mentoring skills,' and facilitated reflection groups enabled sixty-one Duke Divinity School students serving ten-week placements in small, rural United Methodist churches to describe their experiences. This project involves working with the corporate and personal grief of a particular congregation in its attempts to deal with a series of losses within the church. This project proposes that correlations between personal and corporate grief allow techniques used in facilitating the grief process in one to aid in the grief process of the other.  Deliberate use of pastoral work aided the congregation in its grief journey. Correlations were found between personal and corporate grief. These young mothers are experiencing spiritual needs and the church is seeking to put in place principles and guidelines that will enable them to meet their daily needs.  In this paper a proposed definitive statement is presented, a basic guideline, and principle are outlined in sequence. Strategy, goals, and an action plan are suggested for the church. This study suggests a pattern of thought, an approach to dealing with problems of teenage mothers. This necessitates the intervention of pastoral care. This project focuses on one inner-city school, and the need some of its students and members of staff have for pastoral care. The Christian Church, and the role that pastoral care plays in its ministry are explored, and ten cases discovered to be in need of pastoral care intervention are highlighted. Colonialism and worldwide enslavement of Afrikans has contributed to the systemic destruction of Afrikan history, culture, and religious traditions. Interviews were conducted with members of the Village Church in Nashville, Tennessee to access the impact of Eurocentric interpretations of the Christian faith in the development of their faith. This project offers qualitative analyses of sermons preached by five experienced preachers in wealthy congregations in North Carolina.  Analyses will also be drawn from a review of conversations with the preachers about money, wealth, and justice.  The results of this study are shared and compared with relevant critical, New Testament, and homiletical scholarship. Statistics on new church starts within the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church are compiled and compared to the presence of, or lack of, a fulltime staff position in new church development.
