However, there is little in the literature that acknowledges grief as spiritual in nature and it is notable how seldom parents engage, or are engaged by, faith communities as they grapple with their faith concerns. From interviews of eight bereaved mothers of a perinatal loss, three key spiritual concerns are identified and discussed: faith crisis, isolation, and forgetting. Traditional forms of worship use images of God that are masculine and prayers that are degrading to both men and women by focusing on guilt and shame. However, the message that John Calvin constantly reinforced is God's love for us. This project will survey the congregation regarding our service and will include time for a small group to compare and contrast our service with the order used by John Calvin."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127462743113728,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:44:18.628Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:24:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:16:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d138e6a5-3dff-4f62-8dd4-e7611ac71e3c","accessControl_ssim":["12f896a4-864f-41fd-9fe1-b5aaa7e8641f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Reclaiming the language of public prayer: a sacred excavation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:24:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:07:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["472b4020-6585-45ef-b023-5a82b1bbdd9a"],"hasLease_ssim":["69c84d77-fc9d-4fe2-8db2-1c6628f66bda"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rueben P Job"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Pamela C Hawkins"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Public worship","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project posits that much public prayer offered in the context of worship is poorly prepared and lethargically spoken. Factors that contribute to the absence of well-crafted, careful public prayers are examined through interviews with worship leaders representing a variety of Christian traditions. Excavated from the research is a call for worship leaders to believe in prayer, to behold prayer, and to bother with prayer such that the prayer life of God's people might be restored."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129465089163264,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:16:08.214Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:15:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:17:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"de775ad3-a738-490e-ae2d-027bf40f6985","accessControl_ssim":["c1ddb89c-10b2-434a-a4e2-0787c1501e13"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Barth and Kohut: an examination of their anthropologies and implications for pastoral counseling"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:15:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:30:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["eaf3314b-b79b-4c8e-9d49-b2cec1cb9348"],"hasLease_ssim":["59ceafcc-8bc3-4039-b3cf-5ff52142f3ad"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Emmanuel Y Lartey"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lewis T Kola"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Anthropology","Theological anthropology--Christianity--History of doctrines","Barth, Karl, 1886-1968","Kohut, Heinz","Theology","Pastoral theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This Project examines the theological anthropology of Karl Barth and the psychological anthropology of Heinz Kohut, and claims the promise of Barth's theology for the practice of pastoral care and counseling.
