Aristotle's science of literature, called Poetics, is a strategy for reading and interpreting scripture and for preaching that creates an encounter with God during which the people experience themselves as claimed by God for life in God's Kingdom. The strategy identifies ways the drama of scripture imitates life through plot, language, characters, and reason. Through the faculty of imagination, the preacher interprets scripture using these poetic elements and transports the same into the sermon. Based upon a qualitative research design over a period of two years with victims of abuse and survivors, I've concluded that sometimes the church has remained silent concerning domestic violence. The aim of this project is to present a model for pastors seeking to engage their congregations in a ministry dealing with abused women. The qualitative proactive research method will be used in this project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129012999815168,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:08:57.068Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:59:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:16:52Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d6a92733-a123-497f-96c0-479dca216d2a","accessControl_ssim":["b359eb8f-9a9e-43df-aa06-1f1edc7f42e1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The convening power of the church as an act of ministry: developing a responsible church in a growing drug culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:59:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:16:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e9c828e3-36ad-419f-88e4-c483632b5b9d"],"hasLease_ssim":["2cda7f96-4146-41df-8507-6a2e992fb09b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["James O Watkins"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["George A Ashford"],"keyword_tesim":["Church and community"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["City missions","Drug abuse"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Drawing conclusions from such books as Primal leadership and Churches that make a difference, combined with classroom instruction and field study, the church will exercise its convening power as an act of ministry seeking solutions to the Spartanburg Community's growing drug culture.
