Results demonstrate what leadership and membership believe is necessary to live the Spirit-filled life.  Further, the research identifies the balance between the impact of local leadership and private disciplines.  The study identifies how to lead membership into Spirit-filled living and witness. These disciplines are examined through reflection on scripture, dialogue with liberation theology, and consideration of insights gained in a series of adult study groups led by the author. John Wesley was a source of support and dialogue with the women whose work as lay preachers helped his religious movement successfully spread throughout Europe.  However, this history is concealed from the modern church that continues to inhibit the progress of women.  The history exists, but has not been made readily available to educate the church.  There is a delicate impasse between modern women and the Methodist hierarchy. The wilderness narratives from the Hebrew Scriptures communicate to the church a theological event where God was encountered and the people were sustained.  The wilderness narratives create a point of crisis when countered by a culture based on consumerism.  The narrative of consumerism is explored as a dominant script for the congregation of First Baptist Church of Marietta. Using Edward Soja's Thirdspace explorations as the basis for a critical spatial imagination applied to new church developments and taking Acts 10 as a biblical paradigm, the project sought to engage in the lived experience of ministers in this space and map the areas of diffraction in regard to well being.  Research showed that particular combinations of stressors within new church development affected well being.
