The officers of Calvin Presbyterian Church (USA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were led through a series of workshops to develop a plan for changing the style of worship from a stiff Eurocentric experience to a more traditional expression of the African American religious experience. Baptist Hospital (Pensacola, Florida) and the Florida Baptist Theological College (Graceville, Florida) cooperated to provide a seventeen-week experience combining classroom and clinical opportunities.  This project evaluated forty-five students involved in the program during the period 1988-1992.  The evaluations were positive, with weaknesses noted.  The intent of this project was to modify the program in light of the evaluations. A new minister would do well to discover the theological climate as soon as possible and compare the church's theological biases in light of a Reformed theology of worship.  Worship leadership that strives to be theologically inclusive will be based on understanding the object of worship as the God we know as Trinity.  Theological categories based on the Trinity serve as reference points to the different biases worshippers and worship leaders bring to the worship. Over-emphasis on one of the Persons of the Trinity excludes other worshippers who desire to worship God in God's fullness.  Theologically inclusive worship is planned, presented and reviewed by active church members.  A Trinitarian model is used to evaluate the act of ministry. The success of the project indicates that future discussion by the larger church can be helpful in attempts to design and understand congregational biases in worship and a Reformed theology of worship. It utilizes the spiritual and liminal power of the Pentecostal worship service for transformation and formation.  It exploits committed and caring relationships in a covenant community.  The model for Pentecostal Christian formation is supported by a major discussion of how Pentecostals know God (epistemology). Calvary Baptist Church is the project's feature and the goal will be to develop a plan for growth that will assist the church in her faithfulness to the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ: to go, to preach, to teach, and to make disciples of all persons. Designing a two-year church growth plan will include the investigation and incorporation of a stream of church growth resources. Theologically, the plan for church growth must be built upon a solid biblical bedrock.  Studies must be made of the church and community to determine the demographics of the areas targeted.  Methods must be discovered and discernment made as to their feasibility for application to this ministry setting. Finally, a plan will be designed and an evaluation of the plan will be offered, to critique all that has been discovered and suggested as a means for church growth to occur. The basic idea is that baptism represents a paradigm shift from culture to the Kingdom of God. Addiction is a paradigm -- a world-forming power. Recovery is a paradigm shift also.  There are many similarities between the Kingdom of God and recovery paradigms.  The method is researched from a Wesleyan quadrilateral approach.
