Three case studies document and analyze programs presenting the tapes in three different congregations. The project includes a literature search on the subject of 'mentoring', a survey of pastoral internship opportunities offered by a representative group of evangelical seminaries and graduate schools of theology, a comparative analysis of three local church internship programs similar to the effort at Blue Church, and detailed appraisals of the six internships already served at Blue Church, carried out by means of personal interviews with each former intern. The New Testament Epistles offer a unique model of discipleship for the church as well as content for discipleship training.  A study of the evolution of discipleship from the Gospels to the context of the church supports this hypothesis.  The project develops a paradigm from the Epistles, which it then implements and evaluates for its effectiveness. By studying what these members felt and when they felt it, how the leaders of the congregations responded, and the lingering consequences of their loss of confidence, the project hopes to inform, direct, and encourage other congregations facing similar crises. Each serves a growing church in a metropolitan area. The project studies each pastor through the Personal Profile System (DISC), church archives, questionnaires, and on-site observations. The sermon preparation process develops a synthetic outline, propositions (exegetical, theological and homiletical) for sermon portions and message outlines. The communication strategy designs sermons to persuasively preach elements of discipleship.  The spiritual journey evaluation measures congregational change in discipleship attitudes and actions.  The post-test assesses relative effects of other variables.  The congregation demonstrated increased discipleship, though the difference was not statistically significant.
