This holistic case study included students in the fall 2014 Theory and Theology of Leadership class at Multnomah Bible College. It used a process that provided students with leadership theory, theology, practice, modeling, evaluation and feedback. A process of triangulation was engaged with five different sets of data. Friendships were pursued first among church members and then among those outside of the church from community and business contacts.  Ten class sessions were conducted which were comprised of lectures, discussions, role-play and outside of class assignments. Two lecturers from the community shared insights on making friends and how to overcome barriers. Three main studies were included:  first, a study of the size and location of churches having produced Conservative Baptist foreign missionaries; second, a survey of Conservative Baptist churches to determine the number of missionaries and other Christian workers produced by those churches; third, a six-part program to promote missionary interest in rural churches.  The program was tested in five churches. This representative group of Christians consisted of volunteers who were compared to a control group from the rest of the congregation.  An educational measurement tool to evaluate the results preceded and followed the course.  The purpose of the project was considered to be fulfilled if statistical improvement in self-esteem of an average of ten percent for the group as a whole was obtained. An action research method was used whereby new course workbooks were written and implemented as the course curriculum. Students were interviewed pre- and post-course and responses compared.
