As attention lapses, content retention decreases, resulting in diminished influence for the sermon.  This project proposes that introduction of tension into a deductive sermon will increase listener content retention.  Five sermons were preached with tension removed and five were preached to the same group with tension added.  Quizzes were administered to determine content retention.  A dependent groups t-test verified the thesis. Eighty students were placed in tutoring situations in public schools in Cincinnati, Ohio.  They tutored grade-school students for two hours or more a week for 12 weeks.  The three months of contact did not improve racial attitudes because the students already had good attitudes. The hypothesis stated that experientially driven curriculum would significantly enrich families to a greater degree than would educationally based curriculum.  Quantitative results were measured through the Family Life Inventory (a forty-item questionnaire representing eight areas of healthy family fun ctioning).  Qualitative results were gathered through written evaluations and participatory observation. Will a 3-month small group study using Malphurs's steps for building vision produce a clear and unified vision of ministry among the leadership of Warren Community Fellowship, as determined by using a pretest and posttest vehicle of measurement?  Warren Community Fellowhship is a 5-year old, suburban, non-denominational community church with an average attendance of 400. Instruments used for measurement included 11 interview questions given prior to and after the training, 4 cognitive tests, and a seminar evaluation form. The training course incorporated an inductive as well as a deductive teaching approach.  The writer created a pretest and posttest questionnaire to measure whether the training course influenced seminarians to place more value on narrative preaching as a necessary medium of persuasion and to increase their skill in narrative preaching. The third step of the methodology, which involved drafting a vision statement, was tested over a four-month period with the First Baptist Church of Media, PA. The research assumed that many fathers lack capabilities of nurturing adolescent sons.  The research procedure used the observational/ethnomethodical method to determine the findings.  The process provided a personal fathering profile to reveal nurturing strengths/weaknesses, a workshop to address issues systemic to nurturing, and a father/son wilderness trip to practice nurturing skills.
