When they must engage in conversations and make divisive decisions, they express opposing views, and end up taking sides in church fights.  Friends go home asking each other, 'I wonder where that came from.' As delegates to our Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ, we have no idea what experiences each of us carries, what joy or pain influences what we say or do. It includes: 1) a survey of present practices in the coordination of interim ministry in the United Church of Christ, with evaluative observations; 2) a design and critique of training events for persons involved in interim ministry; 3) guidelines for interim ministry in the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ. Special attention is given to various issues in interim ministry plus the personal reflection of the writer from his career as an interim ministry specialist.
